The US and the UK have struck the Houthis in Yemen.

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that the US and UK launched 3 attacks on the city of Al-Hudaydah in the west of the country.

In a news broadcast on the Houthi-affiliated "Al-Masirah" television, it was stated that the US and UK carried out 2 airstrikes on the district of Al-Liheya in Hudaydah.

It was also reported that the US and UK conducted an airstrike on the El-Cah region in the Beit al-Fakih district of Hudaydah. The news did not provide detailed information about these attacks and their outcomes.

LATEST SITUATION IN THE RED SEA

The Houthis, supported by Iran in Yemen, have been seizing commercial ships belonging to Israeli companies in the waters off Yemen since October 31, 2023, claiming it is in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza. They have also been launching attacks on some of these ships using unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. Due to the actions of the Houthis, many shipping companies have decided to suspend their operations in the Red Sea.

On December 18, 2023, the US announced the formation of a multinational "naval task force" called the "Operation Guardian of Welfare" with the participation of a group of countries, citing the threat to global maritime trade security. In response to the attacks by the US and UK on areas under their control in Yemen, the Houthis announced that they will target all ships belonging to these countries.
