In the Feke district of Adana, the local muhtar at the time entered a tender, stating, "We will take this place and build a village house," and acquired the structure. Feke Municipality then made renovations and hung a sign that read, "Feke Municipality Güzpınar Neighborhood Martyr Yusuf Özbek Village House and Cultural Center." However, it was later learned that the building, which was said to be used as a village house, was actually acquired by the former muhtar through the tender for personal use.

The building used as a village house in the Güzpınar neighborhood of Feke district in Adana was put up for tender by the Forest Management in 2016. Allegedly, the neighborhood's muhtar, Hidayet Gedik, prevented villagers from participating in the tender by saying that a village house would be built and took the village house from the tender. However, in the years that followed, the village house was never built, and the structure was personally used by the muhtar. Discussions regarding the part of the structure rented by Feke Municipality, which renovated it and created a cultural house and a carpet field, came to light after the new muhtar, Aydın Güngör, took office.
"WE LEARNED AFTER THE ELECTION"
The muhtar of Güzpınar neighborhood, Aydın Güngör, stated that the building was taken in the name of the villagers but is in personal use, saying, "We thought this building was taken in the name of the village. It belonged to the Forest Management. The former muhtar took this building through a tender. We learned after the election that it was taken in his name. Now none of us can use the building. The municipality restored this structure and built a carpet field for the youth. Even employees were hired from İŞKUR. But now the title deed is in a personal name, and its use is not allowed. We want this structure to be returned to the village people," he said.
"HE SAID IT WAS VILLAGE PROPERTY, WE BELIEVED"
Muammer Atay, who stated that they participated in the tender with the former muhtar Hidayet Gedik, said, "We were sitting in a café in Feke. He said he would find out the tender time and come. He said, 'No one else should come, we will take it in the name of the village.' He went to the tender around 11 o'clock. After the tender, he said, 'It became the village's property.' We believed a muhtar. The truth came out 7-8 years later. The municipality renovated the building, made a cultural house, and built a field next to it. Everyone thought it was taken in the name of the village. The reality turned out to be different," he said.
"EVERYONE AROUND MY FATHER KNEW"
Abdurrahman Gedik, the son of the former muhtar Hidayet Gedik, who came to the building described as a village house during the shooting, said, "Everyone knows what is happening here. My father told everyone; they talked among themselves. They all know. I don't want to say anything else," he said.
"I TOOK IT, IT'S MINE"
While the discussions continued, Yusuf Gedik, the brother of the former muhtar who came to the region, said about the structure with the sign 'Feke Municipality Güzpınar Neighborhood Martyr Yusuf Özbek Village House and Cultural House,' which was renovated by the municipality, "This place is mine, I took it. The name of our martyr was written, but it is not village property. Hidayet paid the money. The title deed is in our name," he said.
The neighborhood people reacted to these words, arguing that all expenses of the structure were covered by the municipality.
