Australian radio host Nikki Osborne faced a warning from staff while trying to enter Qantas' private lounge in Brisbane due to her attire. Following this intervention, Osborne expressed that she felt "humiliated and degraded."
When 44-year-old radio host Nikki Osborne headed to the Qantas Lounge in Brisbane for a business trip to the Whitsundays, she experienced an unexpected incident. According to Osborne, an employee approached her and said, "First of all, I’ve been a fan for a long time, but you need to cover up your cardigan; we need to protect the other cultures inside."
"I FELT GREAT EMBARRASSMENT"
Osborne, who stated she was wearing white shorts, a pink lace bodysuit, and a white knitted cardigan, explained that she was shocked by these words. She expressed that being subjected to such a warning while with a colleague embarrassed her, and she felt anger, disappointment, and humiliation all at once.
APOLOGIZED BY CALLING OFFICIALS
After the incident, Qantas officials called Osborne to assure her that a similar situation would not happen again. However, Osborne expressed that she was even more uncomfortable with the detailed examination of her clothing during the phone call.
FLIGHT ATTENDANT LIFTED HER SPIRITS
Despite the events, Osborne said she had a moment that lifted her spirits during the flight. She noted that the flight attendant addressing her with the comedy character "Bush Barbie" helped alleviate her negative feelings.
