A second attempt to arrest Yoon Suk Yeol, who has been removed from the presidency in South Korea, has been made. It has been reported that the former president's security personnel did not allow authorities to enter the residence, and that 3,000 police officers have been assigned for Yeol's arrest.

In South Korea, it has been reported that officials from the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) went to the presidential residence for the second time due to the arrest warrant for Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from the presidency. Meanwhile, South Korean police sent 3,000 riot police to the residence to arrest former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

YEOL'S GUARDS ARE NOT ALLOWING POLICE

According to Yonhap, CIO officials took action for the second time to enforce the arrest warrant for Yoon. It was reported that the officials heading to the presidential residence were blocked by the Presidential Security Service, while about 30 lawmakers from the ruling People Power Party (PPP) gathered in front of the residence to protest the decision.

During the day, it was reported that the military unit protecting the presidential residence had approved the entry of police and CIO officials into the residence.

The South Korean Western District Court issued an arrest warrant for Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from the presidency in an investigation into "rebellion" and "abuse of power" on December 31, 2024, but the execution of the warrant could not be carried out due to a scuffle between the police and the guards at the official residence.

MARTIAL LAW DECLARED IN SOUTH KOREA

President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on the night of December 3, 2024, in a televised speech, citing that the opposition was involved in "anti-state activities," but he stepped back after the parliament voted to revoke this decision and it was approved in the Cabinet.

Yoon, whose removal was requested by the Assembly, was temporarily suspended from duty until the Constitutional Court made a decision regarding him, and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo was appointed as acting president.

In a vote held in the National Assembly on December 27, initiated by the opposition, an impeachment decision was also made for Prime Minister Han, who was acting as president. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Choi Sang-mok took over the acting presidency in Han's place.
