The South Korean Western District Court issued an arrest warrant for Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from the presidency in an investigation into "rebellion" and "abuse of power" on December 31, 2024, but the execution of the warrant could not be carried out due to a scuffle between the police and the guards at the official residence. In a vote held in the National Assembly on December 27, initiated by the opposition, an impeachment decision was also made for Prime Minister Han, who was acting as president. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Choi Sang-mok took over the acting presidency in Han's place.
