65-year-old Mehmet Çelik and his wife Fatma Çelik, living in the Gaziler Esentepe neighborhood of the Kepez district in Antalya, were evicted from their home of 30 years through enforcement. The elderly couple, who were thrown out onto the street with their belongings and had to spend the night outdoors, made a heartbreaking call for help.
"I Freeze Here at Night"
According to the news by Antalya Körfez newspaper reporter Ertuğrul Gün; Fatma Çelik, who is trying to survive in the cold by spreading her belongings on the ground and wrapping herself in blankets, tearfully called out to the authorities, saying, "I freeze here at night. We have nowhere to go. Our government should take care of us. Is there no one to look after us? We have been outside in the cold with our belongings for 2 days. They locked the door of the house we lived in," requesting help.
"I Don't Know Where We Will Go"
Mehmet Çelik, his wife, stated that they were evicted from their home as a result of an ongoing lawsuit with the cooperative, explaining the hardship they are experiencing. Çelik said, "They forcibly evicted us, threw our belongings onto the street. No one asked us what we would do in this cold. I wasn't even aware of the warning letter. Now, in this cold, we don't know what we will eat or drink, or where we will go," asking for help from philanthropists.
