The cat unofficially known as the "oldest cat in the world" passed away at the age of 33. Rosie, the beloved turtle shell-patterned cat, took her last breath at her owner Lila Brissett's home in Norwich, Norfolk, at the age of 73. Lila, who spent almost half of her life with her beloved cat, said, "She wasn't well and one day she walked into the hallway, lay down on the floor, and passed away. I miss her very much. But we have many beautiful memories and I am happy for the time we spent together," she said. Lila found Rosie at a cat shelter in the 90s. The kitten Rosie needed a new home when it was discovered that the daughter of her first family had a cat allergy. Lila, who had previously adopted an abused cat and a stray dog, brought Rosie home as well. Rosie unofficially held the title of the "oldest cat in the world." A spokesperson from Guinness World Records had told Lila last year to nominate her cat for this title, but Lila did not apply. The oldest cat registered in Guinness World Records is Flossie, a 27-year-old cat from Orpington, Greater London. The oldest cat of all time is Creme Puff, a 38-year-old cat from Austin, Texas, who lived from 1967 to 2005. Although not immortalized in history, it is said that the middle-aged cat who "slept by the window all day" had a very comfortable life. Rosie, who lived on the ground floor in an apartment with her proud owner Lila, was fed Purina One cat food every day, "or else she would make a fuss."
