The yoga session in the church drove the Syriacs crazy.

A group visiting Dereiçi Village in the Süryani Village of the Derik District of Mardin held a yoga event at the Mor Yuhannon Church.

SHARED WITH THE NOTE "IT WAS INCREDIBLE"

The images of the yoga session organized by yoga instructor Seda Deliormanlı were shared on social media. Deliormanlı, who shared with the note "It was incredible," faced backlash on social media.

MEMBERS OF THE SYRIAC COMMUNITY REACTED

It was claimed that the church official interpreted Deliormanlı's request to meditate as a kind of prayer and granted permission, while members of the Syriac community reacted to the images with the words "Great disrespect was shown to the place of worship."

APOLOGIZED

Following the backlash, Seda Deliormanlı apologized in a post. Deliormanlı stated, "I apologize to the Syriac community, especially to the Mor Yuhannon Church, and to everyone I have unintentionally offended. If I had anticipated that our short yoga session, which we conducted after obtaining all the necessary permissions from the authorities, would disturb even one person, I would never have done it."

Deliormanlı expressed, "I would never disrespect any belief, value, or culture; it is impossible for me to even think of such a thing. I hope you believe in the sincerity of my regret for this event, which we conducted with all my goodwill in such a special and impressive environment, inspired by places of worship abroad."
