Arda Kuzey Keskin, who won the lawsuit he filed to raise the law threshold in the YKS from 100,000 to 125,000, has been admitted to the Faculty of Law at Istanbul Commerce University. Thanks to Keskin's struggle, 837 more candidates have gained the right to enroll in law school. With additional placements, this number is expected to exceed one thousand.
This year, the success threshold for law faculty in the YKS preference guide was set at 100 thousand. 20-year-old Arda Kuzey Keskin, who ranked 112 thousand in the exam, stated that this decision has harmed him and many candidates, and he brought the issue to the Council of State.
REQUESTED DISMISSAL OF THE LAWSUIT
In his petition, Keskin expressed that he had been preparing according to the condition of 125 thousand success rank for over a year, and that the threshold was changed months after the exam, describing the decision as sudden. YÖK and ÖSYM requested the dismissal of the lawsuit due to the expiration of the time limit, stating in their defenses that the decision was included in the YKS guide.
PRECEDENT DECISION FROM THE COUNCIL OF STATE
According to the news in Türkiye newspaper; the 8th Chamber of the Council of State found Keskin justified and decided to suspend the execution of YÖK's decision to set the success rank threshold for admission to law faculties at 100 thousand. Following the decision, YÖK announced that preferences could be made again according to the 125 thousand threshold.

After the decision, Arda Kuzey Keskin stated, "I have won my first case without a lawyer. Congratulations to my friends who are between 100 thousand and 125 thousand," he expressed.
BECAME A UNIVERSITY STUDENT THROUGH LEGAL STRUGGLE
As a result of his struggle for law, Keskin was placed in the Law Faculty of Istanbul Commerce University. With the lawsuit he filed, a total of 836 more candidates became university students. It was learned that three of the placed candidates were the top of their class, and all of them gained the right to enroll in foundation universities.
