It was claimed that following the seizure of approximately 10 tons of drugs in an operation against a commercial ship in the Atlantic Ocean, 5 more people were detained upon the instruction of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office recently announced that 7 suspects were detained in simultaneous operations conducted in 6 provinces in Turkey as part of the investigation into the ship from which 10 tons of cocaine were seized off the coast of Spain's Canary Islands. It was also reported that efforts are ongoing to issue arrest warrants and red notices for 3 fugitives.
ASSETS SEIZED
In its statement regarding the investigation, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office noted that it was determined that crew members Kubilay Yalçın, Ali Osman Amanet, Remzi Karakaya, and Atanur Ateş are detained in Spain. It stated, "The movable and immovable assets of the suspects Çetin Gören, Ahmad Almassri, and United Shipping Agency Industry and Trade Limited Company (Kamer Shipping), as well as their shares in the company and partnerships, deposits and investment accounts in banks and financial institutions, and assets in the cryptocurrency market and exchanges have been seized ex officio by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The seizure decision has been approved by the duty magistrate. The investigation is continuing with confidentiality and diligence," it said.
CLAIM OF EXPANDED INVESTIGATION
A new development has occurred regarding the investigation in question. Journalist Burak Doğan claimed that 5 more people were detained as part of the investigation.
In a post on his social media account, Doğan stated, "With the instruction of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 5 more people were detained in the operation targeting the 10 tons of drugs seized on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean. The total number of detainees has risen to 12."
