In a middle school located in the Anamur district of Mersin, the treatment of school principal Ender Kara, who was shot by a 12-year-old student with a gun, is ongoing in the intensive care unit. The doctor providing information about the principal's latest health status stated, "The patient had fragmentation in the liver and several injuries in the diaphragm muscle. We plan to move our patient to the ward today. His condition is improving."
In the Anamur district of Mersin, the treatment of school principal Ender Kara (39), who was seriously injured when student M.K. (12) fired a gun on December 22 at Rüştü Kazım Yücelen Middle School, continues in the General Surgery Intensive Care Unit of Mersin University (MEÜ) Hospital.
"THERE WAS A LACERATION IN HIS LIVER, HIS CONDITION IS IMPROVING"
Kara's health status and examinations are being monitored by a team led by Dr. Sami Benli from the Department of General Surgery.
Benli expressed that they are saddened by the incident involving Kara. He stated that they quickly performed surgical intervention after the school principal was transferred to the hospital, saying:
"We performed his surgery under emergency conditions two days ago. We were faced with a gunshot wound incident. He had injuries to the liver and chest area of the body. There was laceration in the patient's liver and several injuries in the diaphragm muscle. We repaired the injuries in the diaphragm muscle. We intervened in the bleeding in the liver. He is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. We plan to transfer our patient to the ward today. His condition is improving."
THE STUDENT AND HIS FATHER HAD BEEN ARRESTED
On December 22, in the Çarıklar neighborhood of Anamur district, Kara was seriously injured when student M.K. fired a gun in the schoolyard, and after the interventions at Anamur State Hospital, he was transferred to MEÜ Hospital.
Student M.K. and his father Y.K. were taken into custody by gendarmerie teams as part of the investigation conducted by the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
After their procedures, M.K. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested for "attempting to kill a person due to the public duty they were performing with premeditation," while his father was arrested for "instigating the attempt to kill a person due to the public duty they were performing with premeditation."
