In the Efeler district of Aydın, the giant mushrooms collected by the market vendor Kenan Özcan from the Paşa Plateau, which is at an altitude of 1,800 meters, have become the center of attention in the market, with each mushroom weighing between 400 and 600 grams.
After the rainy periods, mushrooms that grow spontaneously, especially in high-altitude and humid regions, are frequently preferred on tables for their taste, nutritional value, and naturalness.
Known for being rich in protein and fiber, and having a low-calorie structure, mushrooms, which are a protein source and a favorite of vegetarians, have drawn attention.
COLLECTED FROM A 1,800-METER HIGH PLATEAU
Mushrooms weighing between 400 and 600 grams, collected from the Paşa Plateau at an altitude of 1,800 meters by market vendor Kenan Özcan, became the center of attention for citizens visiting the market in the rural Yukarı Kayacık neighborhood of Aydın's Efeler district.
"SUCH LARGE MUSHROOMS ARE RARELY ENCOUNTERED"
Kenan Özcan, who sells the mushrooms for 100 TL per kilogram, emphasized both their benefits and taste, saying: "These are the mushrooms from Paşa Plateau, they are not found everywhere. Because they are natural, both their smell and taste are different. They do not upset the stomach and keep you full. Such large mushrooms are rarely encountered. These mushrooms, which are larger than normal ones, can be a meal on their own.
"THE REAL FLAVOR COMES OUT WHEN COOKED IN ITS OWN JUICE"
Citizens who saw them on my stall were also interested. You should cook them best either on a griddle or in a pan with a little oil. You can sauté them with onions, add an egg if you want, or serve them alongside meat. They can also be fried, but the real flavor comes out when cooked in their own juice."
BECAME THE CENTER OF ATTENTION IN THE MARKET
The large mushrooms on the stall attracted the intense interest of citizens visiting the market, with many people capturing the size of the mushrooms with their mobile phones.
