Hundreds of people demonstrated in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, against Israel's recognition of Somaliland, which declared unilateral independence in northern Somalia.

THEY RAGED AGAINST ISRAEL

The crowd gathered in the Taleh region of the capital Mogadishu began the demonstration with the Somali national anthem. The protesters chanted slogans condemning Israel's decision, emphasizing Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The demonstrators shouted, "Somalia is indivisible" and "Somaliland is Somalia."

"SOMALIA IS ONE AND WILL REMAIN ONE"

Mohamed Abor, who participated in the demonstration where security forces took extensive precautions, recalled that land was not given to Ethiopia in the past, drawing attention to the fact that there is no Somali land to be given to Israel or any other country.

Abor stated, "Somalia is one and will remain one. We are ready to do everything for our country, including giving our lives."

Abdi Ismail, who noted that Israel's decision is unacceptable to the Somali people, said, "This decision is a clear attack on Somalia's sovereignty. Somaliland is an inseparable part of us. No country has the right to unilaterally recognize this." Abdi emphasized that the international community should not remain silent in the face of this decision.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced on December 26 that they recognized the Somaliland region as an "independent and sovereign state." With this decision, Israel became the only country to recognize Somaliland.

Somaliland declared its unilateral separation from Somalia in 1991 but has not been recognized as an independent state by the international community.

Somalia, on the other hand, views Somaliland as an inseparable part of the country and emphasizes that all international agreements regarding the region are solely under the authority of the Mogadishu administration.
