In Yozgat, the "cheap meat queue" that starts with the first light of morning in front of the sales store has increased even more before the month of Ramadan. Citizens waiting in line under the snow to buy cheap minced meat and diced meat are requesting the store to open earlier and to have sales in the evening hours throughout the month of Ramadan.
As the month of Ramadan approaches, the crowd in front of the Meat and Milk Institution (ESK) sales store in Yozgat, where 'cheaper meat' is sold compared to the market, has increased even more.
THEY LINE UP IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING
Citizens are lining up in the cold early hours of the morning in front of the only ESK sales store in Yozgat, which opens at 09:30. Approximately 1.5 tons of meat are sold daily in the store.
LONG QUEUES ARE FORMING
Citizens forming long queues in front of the store are buying one kilogram of fatty ground beef for 350 lira and beef steak for 435 lira. In butchers and supermarkets, ground beef is sold for 500-600 lira, and diced meat for 600-800 lira.
"THE PEOPLE ARE IN DISTRESS"
Citizens waiting in front of Yozgat ESK said:
- Murat Dinç: I want them to open this place at 08:00. The people are in distress, they come early in the morning and really suffer from the cold. I want them to open early, continuously. I want them to keep working on Saturdays and Sundays during Ramadan. People are really in distress, they come and wait in the cold. Some wait for 1 hour, some for 2 hours.
- Yaşar Kaymaz: I have been waiting since 10 minutes past 9. I am retired, we are waiting to buy meat, our time, our minutes, our turn. Instead of helping the farmer, the Meat and Milk Institution should help itself, and then the Meat and Milk Institution should give to the farmer. The farmer should give his meat and also receive help. They should make this decision, otherwise, it wouldn't be this crowded.
- Lütfi Kara: It's over four hundred, I didn't buy the meat, my friend bought it for his father's charity, and I eat it too, may God bless him. We are retired, is 2000 lira enough money?
