Two suspects who were detained in connection with the theft of a safe containing approximately 1 million dollars worth of jewelry, 10 thousand dollars in cash, and a licensed firearm from the villa of businessman and Bodrumspor Club President Fikret Öztürk in Üsküdar have been arrested. A quantity of jewelry was seized along with the suspects, while police continue their efforts to capture other suspects involved in the incident. THEY STOLE JEWELRY WORTH 1 MILLION DOLLARS AND DISAPPEAREDThe incident occurred on December 28 in a site located on Tunus Mahmut Paşa Street in the Burhaniye neighborhood. The suspects entered the villa of businessman and Bodrumspor Club President Fikret Öztürk, which is surrounded by barbed wire and secured, and escaped after stealing a safe containing approximately 1 million dollars worth of jewelry, 10 thousand dollars in cash, and a licensed firearm. Although the security personnel noticed the thieves at the last moment, they could not be caught despite the ensuing chase. Following the report from the security personnel, the Theft Bureau teams initiated efforts to capture the suspects. By examining security camera footage, police identified the license plate of the vehicle used by the suspects and arrested Musa B. after tracking the car, which had twin plates. It was learned that Nihat D., who was found to have purchased the stolen goods, was also arrested after questioning Musa B., who had a prior record of 25 offenses. THEY DID NOT ACCEPT THE CHARGESIt was learned that the suspects, who were interrogated at the Public Order Branch, did not accept the charges related to theft. It was stated that a portion of the jewelry stolen from the villa was also recovered during the police operation, and efforts to capture other suspects involved in the incident are ongoing. After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were taken to the courthouse. After their statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, they were referred to the Duty Magistrate Court with a request for their arrest. "I GAVE MONEY TO NIHAT TO BUY A BRACELET FOR MY WIFE"Suspect Musa B., whose defense was taken at the court, stated, "I did not engage in any trade with this person in this way. I had given money to Nihat to buy a bracelet for my wife. When the bracelet he brought turned out to be fake, I asked for my money back, but he did not return it. I said, 'I will tell your wife because you cheated on her.' That’s why we had an argument. A feud arose between us. He has made such statements against me due to these incidents. I deny the charges." "I DID NOT SELL FAKE BRACELETS TO MUSA"Suspect Nihat D. stated, "I helped the law enforcement officers as much as I could. I identified. If I had known it was stolen property, I wouldn’t have said anything. I bought the materials from Musa. I did not sell fake bracelets to Musa. He is lying. Our WhatsApp conversations are evidence of what I said." THE SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTEDThe court panel reviewing the case ruled for the arrest of Musa B. and Nihat D. considering the nature and characteristics of the charges of 'Theft of Property Under Protection in a Building' and 'Qualifying Violation of Residential Immunity', as well as the strong suspicion of crime indicated by the existing evidence.
