Turkish Stocks Close Monday At Historic High Level

Gaining 1,145 points from previous close, BIST 100 index hits 122,619.77 points at Monday's closing session.

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the day up 0.94% to hit historic high at 122,619.77 points on Monday.

Starting the week at 121,879.47 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1,145.02 points from the last week's closing of 121,474.75 points.

During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 121,879.47 points and 122,926.00 points -- 77 stocks on the index rose, 20 fell, and three were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of 842.6 billion Turkish liras ($143.9 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 11.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, leasing company Is Finansal Kiralama, and petrochemical company Petkim saw the highest trading volumes on Monday.

Shares of Is Finansal Kiralama was the best performer on Monday, rising 10.18%, while stocks of refrigeration products provider Klimasan Klima did the worst, losing 2.13%.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $65.38 per barrel as of 6.11 p.m. (1511GMT) on Monday.
