Turkish Stocks Rise 0.93% At Midweek Close

BIST 100 index gains 10.08 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 7.4930.

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the midweek up 0.93% to close at 1,099.68 points on Wednesday.

After starting at 1,089.39 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 10.08 points from 1,089.60 points at Tuesday's close.

On Wednesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,087.49 and 1,099.81 points -- 69 stocks on the index rose, 29 fell, and two were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of some 812.2 billion Turkish liras ($109 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 17.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

Shares of petrochemical producer Petkim, energy giant Tupras and energy firm Zorlu saw the highest trading volumes.

Stocks of Petkim registered the best performance, up 10%, while shares of Turkish conglomerate Net Holding suffered the most, losing 2.25%.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,930.40 by market close, up from $1,920.00, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent oil was $45.30 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday, with a daily range of $39.36 to $40.49.
