It has been reported that approximately 400 rare books in the Egyptian antiquities section have been damaged due to a water leak at the Louvre Museum in France. The water leak in the aging pipes of the Louvre Museum in Paris, the capital of France, has affected about 400 rare books in the Egyptian antiquities section. Francis Steinbock, the Deputy General Director of the Louvre, stated that the water leak affected one of the three rooms in the library of the Egyptian antiquities section, noting that there are between 300 and 400 items in the room and that inspections are ongoing.

A MAJOR HEIST OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 19

Steinbock suggested that the books affected by the leak are not valuable books and noted that the issues with the plumbing have been known for years. He expressed that maintenance and repairs are planned to take place in September 2026. The Louvre Museum, which hosts thousands of visitors daily and displays approximately 35,000 works, experienced a heist on October 19. The police have arrested four individuals in connection with the robbery.
