A heated controversy erupted between pop music star Sabrina Carpenter and the White House over the use of Carpenter's song "Juno" in a video produced by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As scenes of ICE agents chasing and detaining undocumented immigrants to the backdrop of the music spread on social media, Carpenter responded by saying, "Do not ever use me or my music to further your inhumane agenda." The debate quickly escalated, and a response from the White House was not long in coming.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter was infuriated after seeing a video shot by ICE and shared on social media, in which her song 'Juno' was used as background music. The video shows ICE agents chasing, handcuffing, and detaining immigrants to the tune of Carpenter's Juno song.
"DON'T USE ME IN YOUR AGENDA"
Following the spread of the footage, Carpenter made a strong statement on her social media account, saying, "Never use me or my music in your inhumane agenda." The famous singer emphasized that she is against the use of her song in government operations and demanded the removal of the video.
WHITE HOUSE'S QUICK RESPONSE: WE WON'T APOLOGIZE
In response to Carpenter's outburst, the White House also issued a swift and strong reply. White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson stated:
"A brief and to-the-point message to Sabrina Carpenter: We will not apologize for deporting dangerous criminals, illegal killers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country."
Jackson emphasized that the operations are aimed at combating crime, claiming that the criticisms are "populist reactions."
