Teams have started working at the point where Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay lost their lives due to electric current in a puddle in the Alsancak neighborhood of Izmir. Officials from the municipality and the electricity company, who are working in the area where two lives were lost due to negligence, have started digging to lower the underground cables by 50 centimeters. The intervention following the news of an electrical leakage, which was also reported in a local newspaper in Izmir before the tragic incident, has drawn attention.
After the investigation conducted at the place where 2 people lost their lives in Izmir, the municipality and electricity company officials started working to restore the area to normal. With the work, the underground cables will be pulled down 50 centimeters.
The incident occurred yesterday in the Alsancak district of Konak. While the heavy rain in the city turned the streets into a lake, Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay lost their lives by getting electrocuted while trying to cross the road from the puddle of water.
THEY STARTED ACTING AFTER TWO LIVES WERE LOST
Electricity company officials and Izmir Police Department Crime Scene Investigation Branch teams, who came to the area where the incident occurred, conducted investigations in the region. Officials first conducted excavation work around the sewer suspecting an electrical leakage. The teams also checked whether there was an electrical leakage in the area with devices.
CABLES WILL BE PULLED DOWN 50 CENTIMETERS
With the work that started after the investigations, the underground cables will be pulled down 50 centimeters. After the area where excavation was done is closed by the municipality officials, transportation in the region will return to normal. After the completion of the work, the power outage in the area will end.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the news of the electrical leakage on the street was previously reported in a local newspaper in Izmir, and even a dog died from electric shock. The shopkeepers in the area stated that there have been many electrical leakages on the street before, but the authorities did not show any interest or concern.
