The incident occurred in the Levent neighborhood of the central Yüreğir district. According to the information obtained, Faruk Demir, who was crossing a bridge built over the irrigation canal, dropped his mobile phone. Upon this, Demir entered the canal to retrieve his phone that had fallen into the water. While searching for his phone in the canal, Demir suddenly disappeared in the water.
BODY FOUND AFTER 1-HOUR SEARCH OPERATION
Citizens who noticed that Demir was missing reported the situation to emergency services. The Underwater Group Command of the Provincial Police Department dispatched teams consisting of boats and frogmen to the scene. The arriving teams entered the irrigation canal and conducted a search. With approximately one hour of searching, Demir's lifeless body was found. His body was taken to the forensic medicine institution's morgue for autopsy.
