The Commander of the General Staff of the Iranian Police, Major General Ahmad Reza Radan, stated that they plan to deport approximately 2 million irregular migrants from the country by March 2025. Radan made a statement regarding the issue of irregular migrants in the country to the Young Journalists Club (YJC), which broadcasts under state television, last week. He mentioned that they are trying to take measures against the issue of irregular migrants in the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant institutions, stating, "By the end of this year (according to the Iranian calendar, March 2025), we will deport a significant number of illegal foreign nationals found in the country." THERE IS A STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSEFollowing Iran's announcement of deporting 2 million people, the claim that "Migrants will come to Turkey" caused public outrage, and a response to the news reported in some media outlets came from the Ministry of National Defense. “IT IS INCORRECT TO INTERPRET THAT MIGRANTS WILL COME TO TURKEY”In the statement from MSB sources, it was noted, "Deportation is the process of sending a person from the country they are in, through law enforcement, to their country of citizenship, to a transit country, or to another country. It is incorrect to interpret Iran's decision to deport 2 million migrants as meaning that these migrants will come to Turkey." “THE NUMBER OF ILLEGAL MIGRANTS IS AT THE LOWEST LEVEL IN THE LAST 5 YEARS”Our borders are protected by very advanced technological systems. Thanks to the intensive measures taken, the number of illegal migrants attempting to cross our borders is at the lowest level in the last 5 years. We view Iran's increase in measures regarding migrants positively. It is important to be cautious against those trying to create perception through disinformation on this issue," the statement concluded.
