Scammers, even using the month of Ramadan, are targeting citizens' bank accounts with links sent via SMS under the guise of aid. Accounts of individuals who click on the messages sent by these scammers, who exploit spiritual feelings, can be emptied in seconds. Legal experts remind citizens that aid cannot be collected without permission from the governor's office or district governor's office, urging them to be cautious.
With the arrival of Ramadan, individuals who defraud people in various ways across the country have started sending messages using a new method. Scammers, who send messages stating that aid will be provided to needy families by exploiting citizens' spiritual feelings, target citizens' credit cards and bank accounts through links sent via SMS and social media.
THE ACCOUNT OF THOSE WHO WANT TO HELP IS BEING EMPTIED
Scammers who reach the phones and accounts of citizens who read the incoming message and click on the link empty all their accounts within seconds. While citizens who want to help are left without their savings, legal experts warn citizens by emphasizing that according to the Law No. 2860 on collecting aid, no one has the authority to collect aid without the permission of the governorship or district governorship.
"IF YOU CLICK ON THE LINK, ALL YOUR CAPITAL WILL DISAPPEAR"
Lawyer Bilgehan Özçifçi, who stated that scammers particularly target citizens' bank accounts through social media and SMS, said, "Individuals who have committed fraud in many areas in our country have now started to exploit the spiritual feelings of our society with the arrival of Ramadan, targeting our citizens' bank accounts with SMS requests for cash aid and Ramadan packages. Let us not forget that according to the Law No. 2860 on collecting aid, no real or legal person has the authority to collect any money without the permission of the district governorships or governorships. Most importantly, we must not forget that clicking on the incoming SMS and the links within it can lead to the loss of all the capital we have earned in our bank accounts. Therefore, we must never click on these links. We must also warn our people about this. If we want to help, we should definitely consult with the governorship, district governorship, or local authorities. If not, let’s reach out to any needy family we find individually with our own hands," he said.
