The President of the Egg Producers Central Union (YUM-BİR), İbrahim Afyon, stated that there has been no decrease in egg production, saying, "The price increases mentioned in the market are not related to egg production, but stem from the created perception and the price gaps in the markets." OPPORTUNISTS ARE ACTIVEAfyon spoke about the discussions regarding egg prices. Reminding that bird flu was seen in Konya two weeks ago, Afyon used the following expressions: "This was not a problem caused by bird flu. Production continued, and the shipment of eggs to the market was not disrupted in any way. Some traders sought new suppliers in this situation. A perception was created in the market during the search for new suppliers. This situation was specific to the buyers in that region. Opportunists tried to spread this to the general public. They pretended as if they were searching because eggs were unavailable. There is currently no problem. We can meet all demands." "WE HAVE NO PROBLEMS IN PRODUCTION"Afyon drew attention to the fact that "a bad atmosphere is being tried to be created in the market due to traders," stating, "We have no problems in egg production. It is said that prices are increasing. This mentioned increase is not due to the producers. There is no decrease in egg production. The price gap has opened in the markets. The price increases are not related to egg production, but stem from the created perception and the price gaps in the markets," he said. Afyon emphasized that the price of non-special production eggs is at the same level as in January, stating that a carton of eggs is around 140 lira.
"CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT PAY ATTENTION TO HIGH PRICES"Afyon expressed that egg prices in national markets should be at more reasonable levels, and he noted:
"There are rumors that a carton of eggs is around 250 lira. Our consumers can observe prices more accurately in national markets. Currently, the selling price of a normal egg from the producer is around 3.7 lira. The price of a carton of eggs in national markets is around 140 lira. Our consumers should not pay attention to the mentioned high prices. In fact, they should be sensitive about this issue."
Afyon also drew attention to the costs faced by producers, adding that producers are not currently at a loss and are covering their costs.
