TRUMP PROMISED TO END THE WAR IN EXCHANGE FOR GIVING 'THE ENTIRE DONBAS TO RUSSIA' TO ZELENSKY
According to a report by the Washington Post, which cited two unnamed US officials, Trump has abandoned the ceasefire condition he previously proposed for a peace agreement and instead preferred to directly negotiate a peace deal. The same report claimed that during his phone call with Zelensky, Trump asked for "the entire Donbas to be given to Russia" in addition to the regions currently under Russian control, and promised to end the war in return.
ZELENSKY'S MESSAGE: "NO ISSUE CAN BE RESOLVED WITHOUT UKRAINE"
After his meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15, US President Trump held phone calls with Zelensky and European leaders. Zelensky evaluated these calls in a post on his Telegram account. He stated that every leader he spoke with regarding the end of the war had a clear stance, saying, "A lasting and real peace must be achieved."
Emphasizing the need for long-term security for Ukraine with the support of the US and Europe, Zelensky stated, "All issues important for Ukraine should be discussed with Ukraine's participation. No issue, including regional matters, can be resolved without Ukraine."
PUTIN REQUESTED THE DONETSK REGION FROM TRUMP
On the other hand, according to the UK-based Financial Times, Putin requested Trump to hand over Ukraine's Donetsk region to Russia during their meeting in Alaska. In return, the Russian leader proposed to freeze the front line in the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia located in southern Ukraine.
