The Culture Road Festival, organized in collaboration with Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, began with opening speeches at the International Gaziantep Gastronomy Festival (GastroANTEP) at Festival Park. Throughout the 9-day festival, the city will offer a rich program filled with gastronomy and cultural art events.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, who made statements to Melis Yaşar from Haberler.com, said, "This is not actually a festival. This is employment, export, this is a green economy. This is the greatest strength of this table. Every year, we strengthen ourselves further by transforming the story of gastronomy into a circular system that turns into the human table through gastronomy and science, gastronomy and economy."
GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO GASTRONOMY EDUCATION
Şahin stated that many workshops are included in the events and competitions are organized for young people, explaining how the festival has transformed into an economic pie and its contribution to gastronomy education. Mayor Şahin said, "Michelin-starred chefs create different flavors with our local products. These flavors are offered for sale as products in large markets. This circular system grows and turns into an economic pie. A gastronomy high school is being established, and a gastronomy institute is opening at the university. Our children are being trained."
400 EVENTS AT 50 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS
On the other hand, approximately 400 events will be organized at 50 different locations as part of the festival. From concerts to theater, opera to cinema, and gastronomy presentations to interviews, Gaziantep will bring together its unique flavors with guests for 9 days, alongside culture and art.
