Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality made a written statement regarding the matter.
"IT HAS BEEN LEARNED THAT THE GENERAL HEALTH CONDITION OF THE EMPLOYEE ASSIGNED TO THE DRILLING COMPANY IS GOOD"
In a statement from Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, it was noted that there is no negative situation in the area, stating, "A fire occurred during the drilling work, which is continuing 47 meters underground on Ulus Street in Dumlupınar Neighborhood of Kartepe district at 13:55 today. After the notification, fire brigade teams were quickly dispatched to the area; according to information received from AFAD and İZGAZ teams, it has been confirmed that no pipeline passes through the mentioned drilling area. It has also been learned that the general health condition of the employee assigned to the drilling company, who was slightly injured in the fire, is good," the statement said.
"MEASURES WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED"
In the continuation of the statement, it was mentioned, "All precautions have been taken in the vicinity to prevent the fire from spreading and harming our citizens, and a fire brigade team is on standby at the scene 24/7. According to the general procedure applied in gas fires that occur naturally underground, these measures will continue until the fire is extinguished. It is believed that the gas released is methane gas, and the exact result will be determined after tests conducted by TPAO. We state that there is no negative situation that would cause panic in the region and extend our best wishes to our valuable citizens.
