Access to the Instagram account of social media influencer Mükremin Gezgin, who was sued following a complaint by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, has been blocked in Turkey.
The Ministry of Family and Social Services imposed a restriction on Mükremin Gezgin's Instagram account following a complaint.
MINISTRY FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT
The ministry had filed a criminal complaint, claiming that the statements made by Gezgin in some of his videos, where he asked male children, "I am a woman, aren't I?" contained "indecent behavior" and "obscenity." In the indictment prepared following the complaint, it was alleged that the influencer committed the crime of "facilitating the spread of obscene broadcasts," and a prison sentence of up to 3 years was requested.
ACQUITTED IN COURT
During the hearing, Mükremin Gezgin, who defended himself, denied the accusations, stating, "I feel like a woman, and I feel good when I speak this way. The videos were not shot privately, and the clothes I wore are my everyday clothes. I request my acquittal." The court panel ruled that there was no criminal element in Gezgin's actions and decided on his acquittal.
ACCESS RESTRICTION IMPOSED
Following the acquittal decision, Mükremin Gezgin's Instagram account was blocked from access in Turkey by the BTK.
