Former referee and sports commentator Ahmet Çakar harshly criticized the penalty decision given in the Super League match between Fenerbahçe and Gençlerbirliği. In a post on social media, Çakar stated that the penalty decision in favor of Fenerbahçe was incorrect and referred to the VAR room as a 'island of sin.' Çakar expressed that he found the penalty decision made by referee Ali Şansalan, based on Zuzek's handball, to be erroneous.
In the Super League match where Fenerbahçe played against Gençlerbirliği, the penalty awarded to the yellow-navy team sparked controversy after the match.
