AK Party member Şamil Tayyar made a striking comment regarding the discussions that began after Akın Gürlek was appointed as Minister of Justice and Mustafa Çiftçi as Minister of Interior. Tayyar stated, "The point that needs to be emphasized here is the loss of altitude of the legislature. The deputies have no significance. While the pieces are falling into place in the functioning of the executive, it is essential for the legislature to be restructured in accordance with the spirit of the presidential model."
Surprising changes occurred in the Cabinet. Akın Gürlek was appointed as the Minister of Justice, while Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed as the Minister of Interior. With the new appointments, criticisms came from the opposition side.
"APPOINTMENTS ARE IN LINE WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT SYSTEM"
Shamil Tayyar from the AK Party made a noteworthy comment regarding the discussions. In a statement he made on his social media account, Tayyar said: "The appointment of a chief prosecutor and a governor as ministers is being criticized. If we were in a parliamentary system, I would also agree with some criticisms. However, these appointments are in line with the spirit of the presidential government system.

Like in the USA, a single-member district election system should be adopted, and in this model, where the will of the nation will be reflected most strongly at the ballot box, the path for strong representatives to enter the parliament should be opened. The discrediting mechanism imposed on representatives, such as 'appointment, promotion, assignment,' which protects the privileged classes of the bureaucratic oligarchy, should be abolished, and representatives should only perform oversight and legislative functions as stated in the constitution.
"THERE SHOULD BE MINISTERS AS WELL AS REPRESENTATIVES ON THE STREET"
Citizens should try to solve their problems not in the parliament but in the ministries, and the ministries should be structured accordingly. There should be not only representatives but also ministers and bureaucrats on the street. Otherwise, the model where authority lies in the bureaucracy and representatives are held accountable consumes politics and revives the bureaucratic oligarchy.
In the current functioning; the drum of politics is on the shoulder of the politician, while the mallet is in the hand of the bureaucrat, the authority is used by the bureaucrat, and the representative pays the price. If this paradox is not corrected, ultimately, the head of the executive will pay the bill. Humbly…
