A 71-year-old woman who wanted to cross the road in Adapazarı was hit by a car. In the accident captured by a security camera, the elderly woman was thrown several meters away. A witness, who is a shopkeeper, said, "The vehicle was going quite fast. I turned my head at the sound of the impact and saw the woman in the air. The woman fell about 50-60 meters ahead."
A terrible accident occurred yesterday evening on Sedat Kirtetepe Street in the Adapazarı district of Sakarya. A 71-year-old woman named N.D. was hit by a car driven by S.Y. while trying to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing.
ELDERLY WOMAN THROWN METERS AWAY
As a result of the impact, the woman was thrown into the air and was dragged several meters along the road. The seriously injured woman was first assisted by nearby shopkeepers. After the intervention of the medical teams dispatched to the scene upon notification, N.D. was taken to the hospital, where she later died. It was learned that the driver S.Y. is still undergoing procedures at the police station.

The damage to the car reveals the severity of the accident, while the moment the vehicle hit the woman was captured by the security camera of a nearby business. The footage shows the woman being thrown into the air upon impact and then being dragged several meters after falling to the ground. Subsequently, it was seen that nearby citizens rushed to help in panic.
"THE VEHICLE WAS QUITE FAST"
Ferhat Yatçı, a local shopkeeper who witnessed the incident, described what happened: "I am a shopkeeper in the area where the accident occurred. I was ordering tea. As the woman approached the pedestrian crossing, the car hit her. The vehicle was quite fast. I turned my head at the sound of the impact and saw the woman in the air. The woman fell about 50-60 meters ahead. I immediately ran to provide first aid. I went and saw that the woman was not moving. Her pulse was not beating. Other shopkeeper friends nearby also rushed to help, and an ambulance was called. One friend checked with an electronic watch and said, 'I can't find a pulse either,' so we left her. Since this road is wide and has two lanes, vehicles come quickly. They don't pay much attention to the pedestrian crossing; otherwise, this accident wouldn't have happened," he stated.
