While the echoes of the robbery at the Louvre Museum continue, France is now shaken by a new scandal. Coins from the 18th and 19th centuries were stolen from the Denis Diderot Enlightenment House Museum in Langres, France. The total estimated value of the 1,633 silver coins and 319 gold coins stolen is around 90,000 euros.

Approximately 2,000 coins from the 18th and 19th centuries were stolen from the Denis Diderot Enlightenment House Museum in the city of Langres, located in northeastern France.

CONSTRUCTION WORKERS DISCOVERED IT

The incident occurred a few days after the €88 million jewelry heist at the Louvre Museum. French media reported that museum staff noticed the front door of the building was broken and a display case was shattered on Monday morning. It was noted that the stolen collection belonged to the 'treasure collection' discovered by construction workers during the building's renovation in 2011.

633 SILVER AND 319 GOLD COINS STOLEN

Langres Municipality stated that the robbery was a 'planned and targeted' attack. While the museum was temporarily closed after the incident, a private security firm was assigned for night inspections during the renewal of security systems. The total value of the 1,633 silver and 319 gold coins stolen is estimated to be around €90,000.
