STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF SUWAYDA
In a written statement, Suwayda Governor Mustafa Bekkur emphasized that reason and dialogue are the only way out.
Bekkur stated that developments such as the armed attack on the Damascus-Suwayda road, subsequent kidnapping incidents, armed clashes, and the seizure of vehicles belonging to innocent civilians have deeply shaken the city.
Pointing out that the most solid way to overcome the current crisis is through reason and dialogue, Bekkur stated that they are open to peaceful resolution efforts. Governor Bekkur said, "We emphasize that this is the most solid way to overcome this difficult process. We extend our hand to everyone who aims to lay the foundations for reform, state-building, and a better life for all Syrians."
"WE WARN SERIOUSLY"
Bekkur also indicated his support for local and tribal-level initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, stating: "We appreciate all efforts made at the local and tribal level to reduce tensions. The state will not compromise on protecting citizens' rights and the restitution of seized rights. At the same time, we seriously warn against any attempts to sow discord or lead events into a deadlock."
