H.E., a 17-year-old Syrian national, was caught after stealing 2 pistols and 300 bullets from a shooting range in Kahramanmaraş; the court sentenced the defendant to 5 years and 10 months in prison and a fine of 30,000 lira.
The Syrian defendant H.E. (17), who stole 2 pistols and a box of ammunition from a shooting range in Kahramanmaraş, was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months in prison and a fine of 30,000 lira in the trial he was involved in.
The incident occurred on September 10, 2025, at a shooting range in the Dulkadiroğlu district. H.E. broke in through the back entrance with a crowbar, took 2 pistols and 300 rounds of ammunition, and disappeared. After the report, the police launched an operation to capture H.E. After 3 days of efforts, supported by Special Operations police, H.E. was caught with the stolen weapons and ammunition.
"I WAS GOING TO MY FATHER IN SYRIA"
In his statement to the prosecutor at the courthouse, he stated that his mother did not let him into the house, and for this reason, he decided to go to his father in Syria, saying, "I knew there were weapons inside the shooting range, so I decided to take some weapons to protect myself and go to Syria. When I tried the doors, one opened immediately when pressed by hand. I took 2 weapons and a box of ammunition from the glass section where the guns were."
HE WAS ARRESTED
After his interrogation, H.E. was arrested by the court he was brought to. Following the investigation initiated regarding the incident, a case was opened against H.E. for 'Theft' and 'Violation of workplace immunity' at the Kahramanmaraş Children's Heavy Criminal Court. In the final hearing of the case, when asked for his last words, H.E. expressed his regret and requested his acquittal. The court panel sentenced H.E. to 5 years and 10 months in prison for 'Theft' and a fine of 30,000 lira for 'Violation of workplace immunity', and decided to continue his detention.
