Burak Şimşek, 27, was shot and killed by a 16-year-old with a shotgun during a fight over a debt in Ankara.
In Ankara Etimesgut, in a fight that broke out over a debt issue, 27-year-old Burak Şimşek was shot by 16-year-old Mert K. with a shotgun and lost his life. Two people were arrested in connection with the incident.
SHOT WITH A SHOTGUN
The incident occurred on January 9 in the 800th Street of Atakent Neighborhood in Etimesgut district. Burak Şimşek brought together his friends Yusuf B. and Ceyhun Karaçoban, who had a feud over a debt issue. The argument between the parties quickly escalated into a fight. During the scuffle, Ceyhun Karaçoban, who was injured, stole Şimşek's vehicle and left the scene. Karaçoban returned with his cousin Mert K. (16) in tow. Mert K. fired with the shotgun he brought with him.
LOST HIS LIFE
Burak Şimşek, who was shot, lost his life. After the incident, Ceyhun Karaçoban and Mert K., who were taken into custody, were arrested by the court and sent to prison. Şimşek's body was buried after the autopsy procedures.
"I DID NOT KNOW HE TOOK A GUN"
In his statement at the police station, arrested Ceyhun Karaçoban claimed that he was unaware his cousin had taken a gun, saying, "Yusuf owed me money, he only paid a part of it. We had met to talk to the other side. When I was attacked, I got into the vehicle and came back with my cousin. Only one person from the other side was left at the meeting place. Shortly after, the others came in another vehicle and attacked me. When my cousin saw that I was being approached, he fired a shot with a gun I do not know where he obtained it from. I definitely did not tell him to do such a thing," he said.
Mert K. claimed that he fired the gun to scare, stating, "I fired my gun uncontrollably and saw that someone was shot. My cousin did not incite me."
