HE WAS STRUCK ON THE HEAD AND BACK

According to reports in the Czech press, Babis was attacked by someone from the crowd around 6:00 PM local time during an election rally held in the village of Dobra in the Moravian-Silesian region of eastern Czech Republic. It was reported that Babis was struck on the head and back with a crutch by the assailant.

ASSAILANT IN CUSTODY

The 70-year-old politician was taken to a local hospital for examination and a brain scan after the attack, and no information was provided regarding his health condition. Police present at the scene immediately intervened with the assailant, who is reported to be in his 50s or 60s. In a statement made by the police, it was announced that the assailant was immediately taken into custody and an investigation into the incident was initiated.

CZECH PRIME MINISTER FIALA CONDEMNED THE ATTACK

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala condemned the attack and wished a speedy recovery to opposition leader Babis. Interior Minister Vit Rakusan also condemned the attack, stating that violence brings no solutions and is unacceptable.
