Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan announced that the Bolu 6th Criminal Court of First Instance has imposed a travel ban on him due to a lawsuit filed against him for 'hate and discrimination'.

The Mayor of Bolu, Tanju Özcan, has been placed under a travel ban abroad as part of the trial regarding "hate and discrimination" he is facing.

A critical decision has come from the judiciary regarding Bolu's CHP Mayor Tanju Özcan. Özcan announced the decision taken in a statement on his official social media account with the title "A judicial control decision has been issued against me."

TRAVEL BAN ABROAD

Özcan announced that the Bolu 6th Criminal Court of First Instance has imposed a travel ban on him as part of the case opened against him for the crime of 'hate and discrimination.'

In his statement, Özcan noted: "Despite all this, a few months ago, following the public statement made by Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, an investigation was reopened against me, despite the fact that there were numerous decisions of non-prosecution on the same issue. As a result of the investigation, a case was opened in the Bolu 6th Criminal Court of First Instance. The court set a hearing date for the case that was opened.

"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND"

Meanwhile, the judge has changed, and the new judge suddenly asked the prosecutor a few days before the hearing whether it was necessary to apply judicial control measures, including arrest, against me.

Although the prosecutor's office stated that there was no need for any judicial control measures to be applied, the court imposed a travel ban on me without even providing a justification. It is impossible to understand what kind of strange love for refugees this is. I leave this bizarre decision to the conscience of the Turkish Nation."
