TRUMP AND NETANYAHU MEETING HAS BEGUN
The meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the topic of "Gaza" has begun. At the historic summit at the White House, Trump welcomed Netanyahu at the door. The two then proceeded to the meeting.
TRUMP'S RESPONSE TO "WILL THERE BE PEACE IN GAZA?" QUESTION
Before his meeting with Netanyahu, Trump made a brief statement to reporters. Trump answered "yes" to the question, "Will there be peace in Gaza?"
WHAT IS TRUMP'S GAZA PLAN?
Some information about Trump's plan has leaked to the press. According to this information;
After Hamas and Israel agree, attacks will cease, and all living and dead Israeli captives in Gaza will be handed over 48 hours later.
Gaza will be governed by a temporary administration made up of technocrats; security will be provided by a peacekeeping force, and the Israeli army will gradually withdraw completely from the areas where security is established.
The temporary administration will hand over Gaza after the Ramallah administration has made the necessary reforms. Hamas will disarm, and Israel will not touch Hamas leaders who wish to remain in the region, while those who wish to go to other countries will be allowed to do so.
Palestinians in Gaza will be encouraged to stay in the region and will not be forced to migrate. However, those who wish to leave will still be able to return.
TENSIONS MAY SURFACE
The leaders' meeting at the White House comes after the annual gathering of world leaders in New York, where the Gaza war is at the center of the agenda and Israel is frequently targeted. Although Trump and Netanyahu generally share the same views and the U.S. continues to be Israel's main arms supplier, there is a possibility that tensions may surface during today's discussions. Trump had stated that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank along with Gaza and East Jerusalem immediately after hosting President Erdoğan at the White House on Thursday. Analysts say that Israel's annexation of the West Bank could undermine the historic Abraham Accords, brokered by Trump's first administration, which saw several Arab countries establish diplomatic relations with Israel.
