The Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici stated, "We need to reconsider the legal regulations regarding forests, including penalties. The death penalty for the traitors who intentionally set our forests on fire should also be on Turkey's agenda and should be discussed."

DESTİCİ: "THE DEATH PENALTY SHOULD BE INTRODUCED FOR THOSE WHO INTENTIONALLY SET FORESTS ON FIRE"

BBP leader Mustafa Destici held a press conference at the party's headquarters. In his speech here, Destici devoted significant attention to forest fires.

Destici said: "Unfortunately, we continue to receive news of fires from many regions of our country. We are extremely saddened and worried about this. As a nation, we are experiencing great pain. Increasing the number of aircraft and helicopters necessary for aerial intervention in fires is very valuable and precious, as I have previously stated. Turkey has the will, strength, and power to do this.

Turkey is also gradually increasing these efforts as part of its planning. We need to reconsider the legal regulations regarding forests, including penalties. As the Great Unity Party, we previously proposed the reinstatement of the death penalty for perverted criminals who rape and murder our children and women, and for terrorists who directly martyr our soldiers, police, security guards, teachers, and innocent people with weapons or bombs. We are insistent on this view and proposal. The death penalty for traitors who intentionally set our forests on fire should also be on Turkey's agenda and should be discussed."

ALLEGATION OF "MILITARY OPERATION" AGAINST YPG

Destici continued his remarks: "In the last few days, news has begun to circulate that an agreement has been reached between the U.S. Special Representative for Syria and Ankara Ambassador Tom Barrack and our Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler regarding a military operation against the YPG terrorist organization in Syria. According to the claims, if the YPG does not integrate militarily with the SDF and the Damascus administration, this option will be activated by the parties. However, the statements shared here and there about the negotiations in this direction, suggesting that Turkey will prioritize a military operation, have not yet been confirmed by reliable or official sources.

"THE U.S. 'YPG' NARRATIVE IS NOT A SIGN OF GOODWILL"

It is claimed that the military option was put on the table after the terrorist organization YPG rejected integration with the Damascus regime, and that a green light was given for an operation led by Turkey. If these claims are true, it would not be correct to see developments as merely a tactical step. In our assessment, this picture is part of a much more comprehensive and strategic game than a mere agreement. It is the United States itself that has been training, arming, and sending thousands of truckloads of weapons to the region, effectively turning the YPG into a ground force for years. The same U.S. coming out today and saying 'The YPG is escalating tensions, preventing integration, you intervene' is not a sign of goodwill. Such a situation is rather the product of a global and imperialist mindset that seeks to draw Turkey into a long-term war by either deploying or withdrawing it to the field."

"KCK STILL SAYS IT WILL NOT LAY DOWN ARMS"

Destici stated, "While a process is being operated under the name of a terror-free Turkey inside, and political discussions are constantly heated in this center, how will it be explained to the counterparts that an operation is being launched against the Syrian branch of the same structure outside? Of course, we have no such responsibility. We are only asking this of those who are the counterparts. The KCK leadership still openly states that they will not lay down arms. The structures that are being drawn to the table today under the name of a solution process have actually pulled the PKK off the stage by supposedly dissolving it to open the way for the YPG and SDF and have transferred their mandates to the YPG and PYD. Even under the risk and danger of U.S. approval and control, the Turkish Armed Forces' entry into such an operation in Syria has only one beneficial aspect from our perspective. That is, a military operation against the YPG and its derivatives will enable even the PKK and its political extensions, as well as those who support them, to drop their masks and reveal their true faces," he said.
