Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Member of the Presidential High Advisory Board Cemil Çiçek stated, "I find the discussions about the Republic, whether they are local or irrelevant, problematic for this country."
Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Member of the Presidential High Advisory Board Cemil Çiçek attended the opening ceremony of a school named after him in the Boğazlıyan district, together with Deputy Minister of National Education Muhammet Bilal Macit.
In his speech at the opening, Çiçek said, "Let's have political discussions; these happen in democracies and will continue to happen. But if we are to have the discussion on the right ground, I say this very clearly," adding, "The level of education, which will determine Turkey's place in the ranking of 193 countries in the coming days and in the upcoming century of Turkey, is where our education has reached. If we cannot fix this, no matter what we say, we will continue to spin in place. Therefore, we need to educate our people well."
THE REPUBLIC THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT A LOT OUTBURST
Çiçek emphasized the need to protect the gains of the Republic and used critical expressions. "One more thing should not be forgotten. We always say this. Now we are citizens of a state like the Republic of Turkey. Therefore, we need to know very well how this state was established," Çiçek said, and continued: "Yes, we have highways, we have airports, we have developed this much in industry, etc. But when we are not aware of three things, we accept many things as incomplete. One of them is the national struggle."
"I FIND LOCAL AND IRRELEVANT REPUBLIC DISCUSSIONS PROBLEMATIC"
In every meeting, it is our duty to pray for our great leaders who won this struggle, who made this geography our homeland, especially Atatürk, all our martyrs, religious and state leaders, and our teachers. We must not forget this. It is as if this homeland was won casually. It was obtained so easily. We are overlooking this Republic, the blessings and gains of the Republic, as if we are squandering a paternal inheritance.
One of them is this. We need to teach this well to our children. Therefore, the first thing we need to know is the national struggle. The second is the Republic. If I can speak in front of you today, if I have been able to contribute to such services in any way, I owe it to the Republic. Therefore, I find local and irrelevant Republic discussions problematic for this country. The third is democracy. If there is no democracy, other kinds of troubles will come one after another.
