The Ministry of Trade has initiated an inspection and audit process regarding a company that holds a "Renewal Authorization Certificate" following numerous complaints from consumers.
It was announced that many applications were made through the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER) and e-Government regarding a company operating in the trade of refurbished mobile phones and electronic products.
A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REACHED THE MINISTRY
The complaints indicated that the valuation and payment processes for used products were not completed within the timeframes specified in the legislation, that rights under warranty were not granted, and that products with cloned IMEI numbers, as well as lost, stolen, or counterfeit products were being sold. Additionally, complaints were received by the Ministry regarding the failure to record part changes made during the refurbishment on the certificate, sales without certification, and actions contrary to the promises made in advertisements.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
It was stated that the audit process conducted by units affiliated with the Ministry regarding the company in question is ongoing, and it was announced that the company operates as an authorized refurbishment center in the trade of "refurbished products" under Article 57/A of the Law No. 6502 on the Protection of Consumers.
In the Ministry's statement, it was emphasized that "All necessary steps are being taken decisively to protect the rights of our consumers, to maintain a safe and transparent trading environment in the market, and to ensure that businesses operating in the refurbished product sector are audited in accordance with the legislation."
The Ministry warned citizens to prefer companies with a "Renewal Authorization Certificate" when purchasing refurbished products. It was emphasized that consumers should apply to the Alo 175 Consumer Consultation Line or CİMER in case they experience any grievances.
