Citizens fishing on Paşalimanı Island distributed boxes full of fish to the villagers for free, saying, "When we catch fish, they buy a 15-kilogram box for 300-500 liras, but they sell it to the people for 200 liras per kilogram."
Citizens who make a living through fishing made a striking move on Paşalimanı Island. The fishermen distributed boxes full of fish from their boats to the public for free in response to the low purchase prices.
THE REASON IS QUITE INTERESTING
The fishermen's rebellion was directed against the pricing policies of intermediaries and wholesalers. The fishermen reacted to the enormous difference between the wholesale price of the fish they catch and the final consumer price in the market with the following words:
"Fish are not being sold right now, there is no demand. So we are giving it away for free. When we catch fish, they buy a 15-kilogram box for 300-500 liras, but they sell it to the public for 200 liras per kilogram."
GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE
Boxes full of fresh fish were delivered to the public for free in a short time.
