The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing its investigation into the crash of the plane carrying the Libyan military delegation. While the black box and technical examinations related to the accident are being conducted, investigations into the condition of the crew are ongoing. Additionally, camera footage from the airport has been seized, and samples have been taken from both the fuel tanker and the plane wreckage in case of the possibility of incorrect fuel usage.
The details of the investigation initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the plane that crashed while carrying the Libyan military delegation have emerged.
BLACK BOX SECURED
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by 4 public prosecutors under the coordination of 1 chief public prosecutor, the area where the plane crashed has been secured and cordoned off. All wreckage pieces, especially the black box, which is considered the most critical evidence of the accident, have been secured, and autopsies and toxicology tests are being conducted to determine the exact causes of death of the crew members who lost their lives in the accident. The procedures for the bodies at the Ankara Forensic Medicine Institution Group Presidency are also ongoing.
PILOTS UNDER SCRUTINY
The investigation is also focusing on the pilots' activities prior to the accident. Every detail, from the crew's sleep patterns to their meals, alcohol or drug use, and psychological conditions, is being meticulously examined. The prosecutor's office has requested a report from technical experts to determine whether the plane was airworthy. The responsibilities and possible faults of the personnel who performed the last maintenance on the plane are also under scrutiny.
CAMERA RECORDS SEIZED
As part of the investigation, the camera records at the airport have been seized, and all radio communications between the tower and the plane have been included in the case file. Additionally, it has been learned that technical inspections will be added to the file to determine whether the spare parts installed on the plane during maintenance activities were compliant with standards.
SAMPLES TAKEN FROM FUEL TANKER
In response to the possibility of fuel contamination or incorrect fuel usage in the accident, samples were taken from both the fuel tanker and the plane wreckage. Additionally, local weather reports at the time of the accident were requested. It has been learned that if the investigation concludes that the accident was due to a structural failure or design flaw, the chain of responsibility will be expanded.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The jet that took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport heading to Tripoli, which also included Libyan Chief of General Staff General Muhammed Ali Al-Haddad, crashed in the mountainous terrain of Kesikkavak village in Haymana district for an undetermined reason. Eight people, including the Libyan delegation, lost their lives in the accident.
