As part of the betting investigation, Galatasaray's management has made an important decision regarding Eren Elmalı and Metehan Baltacı, who have been penalized. The club will not impose any additional sanctions on the two players and will appeal to the Arbitration Board for the cancellation or reduction of the penalties.
In the betting investigation that caused a major upheaval in Turkish football, Galatasaray's Eren Elmalı was given a 45-day ban, while Metehan Baltacı received a 9-month ban. According to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi, the yellow-red management decided not to impose additional disciplinary penalties on the two players.
Especially due to the length of Metehan Baltacı's penalty, the "termination of contract" could have been on the agenda; however, it was stated that Galatasaray would not take such a step. The management will seek to win back both players, considering their acceptance of youthful mistakes.
AN APPEAL WILL BE MADE TO THE ARBITRATION BOARD
Galatasaray's management has decided to appeal to the Arbitration Board to request the cancellation or reduction of the penalties given to Eren Elmalı and Metehan Baltacı. The club's approach is summarized as "to win back the young player who accepts his mistake instead of excluding him."
PENALTIES VALID IN EUROPE AS WELL
The penalties for both players will be applied in both the Super League and European cup matches. Despite the squad planning issues that will arise due to Metehan's long absence, Galatasaray preferred to continue with the player.
