The obligation to install winter tires for commercial vehicles transporting passengers and cargo on intercity roads has started as of today. This regulation will remain in effect until April 15, 2026. Those who do not comply with the rule will face an administrative fine of 5,856 TL.

The obligation to use winter tires in commercial vehicles transporting passengers and goods on intercity roads started today. The application will continue until April 15, 2026, and aims to increase traffic safety, especially in adverse weather conditions.

In inspections, vehicles without winter tires or those not suitable for winter conditions will not be allowed to continue on the road.

PENALTY OF 5,856 TL FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

Despite the obligation to use winter tires, companies that do not comply with the rule will face an administrative fine of 5,856 TL. Teams will increase inspections in the field during periods of heavy snow and ice.

Winter tires are recommended for use in private vehicles as they provide better grip on wet, snowy, and muddy surfaces at temperatures below 7 degrees. Experts remind that attention should be paid to the production date when purchasing tires.

PRICES AND SERVICE FEES

This year, there is a wide range of prices for winter tires:

Low inch tires: 2,000 TL – 5,000 TL

Large-sized tires: The price for a single tire can go up to 15,000 TL

Mounting and dismounting fees:

For rims of 16 inches and below: 1,000 TL

For rims of 17 inches and above: 1,200-1,500 TL

Tire hotels: Storage fee for four tires is at the level of the change fee

The application is expected to contribute to preventing accidents by increasing road safety in winter conditions.

WARNING FROM MINISTER URALOĞLU

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a call to drivers in a statement on his official X account. Minister Uraloğlu stated:

"Our mandatory winter tire application is starting. With the increasing severity of seasonal conditions and to ensure traffic safety, we will implement the winter tire obligation between November 15 and April 15 this year. The application will be mandatory for all commercial vehicles transporting passengers and goods on intercity roads.

We also recommend private vehicle owners to use winter tires that increase grip. We ask our citizens to be more careful during this period and to strictly adhere to the measures taken for traffic safety; we wish all our drivers peaceful and safe travels."
