The results in the ice dance category of the 2026 Winter Olympics sparked controversy. Despite American athletes Madison Chock and Evan Bates being ranked first by many judges, the gold medal was won by the French couple, raising questions about the judges' evaluations.
SCORE DIFFERENCE BECAME A TOPIC
The French couple Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, who scored a total of 225.82 points, reached for the gold medal, while the American duo Chock-Bates remained in silver with a score 1.43 points behind.
In the rhythmic dance section, the American athletes were 0.46 points behind their French rivals. It was noteworthy that a French judge gave the French couple a score 5.74 points higher than the American athletes.
In the free dance section, 5 out of 9 judges placed Chock-Bates in first place. However, the evaluation of the French judge affected the overall scoring, and the gold medal went to the French athletes.
