Details have emerged in the investigation regarding the 30 million dollars reported stolen from the parking lot of a site in Bakırköy, involving two vehicles. The camera footage from the moment of the incident shows four thieves entering the site in a car with fake license plates, breaking the windows of two vehicles within 15 minutes, loading 10 bags weighing 300 kilograms of money from the trunks into their own vehicle, and fleeing the scene.
On February 11, in a site with 24-hour security in Bakırköy, an incident occurred where Bilal Durmaz, who lives in the site and operates a currency exchange office in the Grand Bazaar, placed 30 million dollars he took from his workplace into bags in the parking lot of the site, inside 2 vehicles.
THEFT MOMENT CAPTURED ON CAMERA
Later, 4 individuals entered the site by car and went down to the parking lot. The suspects broke the trunks and windows of the 2 vehicles in the parking lot and stole the bags containing dollars and fled. Those moments were recorded second by second by the security camera.
AN OPERATION HAS BEEN INITIATED TO CATCH THEM
In the late hours, Bilal Durmaz went down to the parking lot and noticed that the doors and windows of his vehicles were broken and the bags were stolen, and he reported it to the police. Durmaz informed the police officers who arrived at the scene that there was 30 million dollars in the bags. The police, who conducted an investigation in the site and parking lot, initiated a work to capture the 4 suspects.
HE HAD BEEN KEEPING 30 MILLION IN THE PARKING LOT FOR A MONTH
In the investigation regarding the incident, it was determined that Bilal Durmaz, who made the report, is the son of Atilla Durmaz, the owner of Taç currency, whose name was mentioned as 'trustee' in the corruption indictment against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It was learned that Bilal Durmaz, who lives in Bakırköy, had been keeping 30 million dollars in 100 dollar banknotes in the trunks of the two vehicles in the site's parking lot for a month, claiming he was moving his workplace.
OPERATION IN 3 PROVINCES
Following the investigation initiated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Istanbul police teams from the Public Order Branch and the Intelligence Branch started working to capture the suspects. After technical and physical surveillance, an operation was carried out against the suspects, who were assessed to have stolen the money from the vehicle and to be part of a theft organization. In simultaneous operations conducted in Istanbul, Antalya, and Kocaeli, 7 suspects were captured. During the searches conducted at the suspects' homes, 1 million 670 thousand 500 dollars, 13 thousand 200 lira, 860 Ecstasy pills, 2 unlicensed pistols, and 1 blank-firing gun were seized.
