IRAN'S DRONE ATTACK ON THE UAE CONSULATE IN ERBIL

Local sources in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKBY) reported that a drone attack was carried out on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Consulate in Erbil. In a statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident, it was noted that two security personnel of Nepalese nationality were injured due to the attack and that extensive material damage occurred in the building. The statement said, "Such actions represent a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional security and stability. Targeting diplomatic missions and buildings is a clear violation of international norms and laws."

The Ministry called on the governments of Baghdad and Erbil to take all necessary measures to investigate the attack, identify those responsible, and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.

CALL FROM THE IKBY GOVERNMENT TO BAGHDAD

In a statement made by the IKBY government after the incident, the attack was condemned. The Erbil administration described the attack as "a clear violation of international law, the sovereignty of the IKBY, and Iraq." The statement called on the Baghdad administration to fulfill its legal responsibilities and to put an end to the actions of "illegal militia groups" operating in the region.

The statement included, "Even if such terrorist acts do not result in loss of life, they constitute a severe blow to both the region's and Iraq's international image." The UAE Consulate in question had previously been the target of a similar attack due to the conflicts in the region.
