Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek stated that they broke a record by generating approximately 13 billion lira in revenue for the 2024-2025 season. In his statement, Dursun Özbek said, "We broke the revenue record in our history with a consolidated revenue of 339 million euros, amounting to 12.9 billion lira for the 2024-2025 season. We will maximize our non-operating income that will serve our main goals. We are not stopping. We did it, and we will do it again."
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek stated that they broke a record by generating approximately 13 billion lira in revenue for the 2024-2025 season. Speaking at the annual ordinary general assembly meeting held at the Haliç Congress Center, President Özbek provided information regarding financial matters.
'WE BROKE THE REVENUE RECORD' Özbek expressed that it is difficult to achieve sustainable financial and sporting success with revenues from core activities, stating, "It is essential to create non-operating revenues for sustainable success. For non-operating revenues, well-planned projects must be produced and successfully implemented."
Özbek noted that they achieved record revenue in the 2024-2025 season, saying, "We broke the revenue record in our history with a consolidated revenue of 339 million euros, or 12.9 billion lira, in the 2024-2025 season. We laid the foundations for this when we took office in 2022. Instead of shrinking, we adopted a growth strategy by utilizing resources created through new projects for sporting success." he said.
'OUR GOAL IS TO COMPLETE 100 THOUSAND' Opening up the items of the revenue record, President Özbek used the following expressions:
"The answer to the question you have heard, 'How does Galatasaray acquire so many top-level players?' lies in the revenues. We generated 78 million euros from box, VIP, season ticket, and daily ticket sales. Despite the prices tripling, the 41,614 season tickets that went on sale sold out quickly. Galatasaray reached an average of 43,000 spectators and an 83% occupancy rate during this period. We achieved the highest average spectator and occupancy rate since our new stadium opened. This record will grow even more with the results our football team will achieve. Our second revenue item is retail. GS Store broke a record with a net turnover of 94 million euros. Retail EBITDA also broke a record with 35 million euros. We plan to go public with this rapidly and profitably growing company soon. This public offering will be an example of how the successes achieved through investments in our football team over the last three years have turned into additional revenues. Our product sales reached 4.7 million units, and our jersey sales reached 925 thousand. Our goal during this period is 1 million jerseys. We are confidently walking towards this goal with 402 thousand jerseys sold in 4.5 months this season. Thanks to this success, we will revise our agreement with Puma. We increased our sponsorship revenue from 5 million euros annually to 8.3 million euros, excluding bonuses. We continue to sell the Osimhen boxes we launched towards the end of the transfer season. We have currently reached 30 thousand. Our goal is to complete this to 100 thousand. We are receiving great interest. Our third revenue item is sponsorship. This revenue item also broke a record with 79 million euros. We believe that these records will continue along with our successes. The success of our football team has significantly increased the number of sponsors on our jersey and the total amount of sponsorship revenue. We have reached 28 million euros here. Our last revenue item is UEFA revenues. There is a decrease because we were in the UEFA Europa League last season. This season, we expect at least 40 million euros in revenue from the Champions League. Thanks to these increases, our club ranked in the top 10 in Europe in various revenue categories in the European Clubs Financial and Investment Report published by UEFA every year. Missing out on Champions League revenue last season and the increase in sales costs caused us to incur a gross loss. This year, we will achieve much better financial tables with the Champions League revenue."
'IT IS POSSIBLE TO OFFSET THE LOSS WITH SALES AND TURN A PROFIT' Dursun Özbek stated that the football team consists of quality players and that they have the potential to turn the losses in financial tables into profits. Özbek mentioned that the revenues they will generate from the Champions League this year will reduce the losses in financial tables, saying, "It is possible for us to offset the loss and turn a profit with the sale of one of our players. However, our goal is different. We will invest in sports by increasing our non-operating revenues through resource creation. We are a sports club. We have a mission defined by Ali Sami Yen Bey. We do not want to carry Galatasaray forward by shrinking. We laid out the paths and vision for growth in 2022. We will maximize our non-operating revenues that will serve our main goals. We do not stop. We did it, and we will do it again. I believe that the friends who come after us will continue this." he expressed.
Özbek emphasized that they have made investments aimed at achieving success in Europe, stating, "We are in a period of investment focused on success in sports in Europe. We do not plan to sell any of our assets unless very favorable conditions arise. We demonstrated this in the last transfer period. Finding the necessary financing is the responsibility of the management. Success is what our fans and members expect. This is the reason we came to these positions." he evaluated.
'OUR EXIT FROM THE TBB AGREEMENT IS A TURNING POINT IN THE CLUB'S HISTORY' The president of the yellow-red club stated that their exit from the restructuring agreement with the Turkish Banks Association (TBB) is one of the turning points in the club's history.
Recalling that they exited the TBB agreement, Özbek said, "The capital increase we made in January, thanks to the advance payment from the Florya project, completely paid off our debt to TBB. Our exit from the TBB agreement is a turning point in the club's history. This should not be seen merely as getting rid of interest payments. Our club has gained the freedom to spend and invest its revenues as it wishes. In other words, we have gained our financial independence." he said.
'GALATASARAY HAS RAISED TO GREEN CATEGORY' Dursun Özbek stated that the club's net assets are positively at 9.9 billion lira.
Özbek, who reflected on the screen that the difference between debts and receivables in the club's financial table is 340 million dollars, added, "The debt-receivable difference table is combined according to the Tax Procedure Law. There are items on both sides that will be eliminated. If elimination is done, the figures on both sides will decrease. It would be more accurate to look at the consolidated balance sheet prepared according to UFRS, which is required by our statute. Accordingly, our total assets are 30.3 billion lira, and our liabilities are 20.4 billion lira.
Our assets exceed our liabilities by 9.9 billion lira, which is 225 million euros more. This is our equity. Thanks to the projects carried out in the last 3 years, our equity has turned positive again after a long time. Sportif AŞ has emerged from the technical bankruptcy it has been in for a long time. This issue is of great importance within the framework of UEFA rules. Additionally, it has sufficient income to meet all the obligations of our football activities spread over the coming years," he said.
Stating that UEFA conducts an audit of one club from each country every year, Özbek said, "They selected us from Turkey last season. They conducted a very detailed audit. We passed this audit flawlessly. According to UEFA's criteria, Galatasaray has risen to the green category in the sustainability index. I see this as very important. I am sure that this criterion will shed light on the discussions that have taken place recently."
'GALATASARAY CANNOT GROW BY SHRINKING' Özbek, recalling his words when he took office in 2022, "Galatasaray cannot grow by shrinking, Galatasaray cannot be satisfied with less," said, "We stated that sports clubs in Turkey, as in the rest of the world, need to generate off-field income and develop projects. At that time, our competitors who said, 'Is Galatasaray a real estate company?' started to imitate us and also began to ask, 'Where is Galatasaray finding this money?' In 2025, we generated a total of 180 million dollars in off-field income. Since this income is off-field, it does not appear in the profit-loss statement. You can only see it in the cash flow statement. We have generated this income. We will continue to obtain it without slowing down in line with our strategy. The investments we made in our football team have not only borne fruit as success. It has also shown itself in numerical terms. When we took office, the market value of Sportif AŞ, which was 120 million euros, reached 384 million euros. This increase is a combination of financial confidence, investor interest, and sporting success. Sportif AŞ is by far the most valuable football company in Turkey. This is not enough for us. Our goal is to make Galatasaray one of the 10 most valuable clubs in Europe with the successes we will achieve. I wholeheartedly believe we will reach this." he said.
ROADMAP FOR THE FUTURE Dursun Özbek shared the roadmap for the club's future period.
Speaking about his short, medium, and long-term plans, Özbek concluded his remarks as follows:
"All our activities are focused on infrastructure development, financial independence, and sustainable sporting success. In the short term, we aim to complete our projects, win the 26th championship and the 20th Turkish Cup, and succeed in the Champions League. In the medium term, we plan to complete the Aslantepe Project and achieve permanent success in the Champions League. In the long term, my most important goal is to leave Galatasaray in the strongest possible position, both sportingly and financially, to my successors. The vision that Galatasaray has set for the future is not just a plan but a matter of legacy. Our greatest duty is to leave this club to future generations stronger, freer, and more respected. In this special period when we celebrate the 102nd anniversary of our Republic, we once again felt how Galatasaray has identified with the values of the Republic established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Galatasaray is not just a sports club but also an idea, an educational legacy, and a culture. Our founder Ali Sami Yen's words, 'To defeat teams that are not Turkish,' is not just a sporting goal. It is a symbol of self-confidence, independence, and identity. We have translated that ideal into the language of the age; to be a leader not only on the field but in every area. Galatasaray is one of the most concrete representatives of Atatürk's vision of modern Turkey. In education, we reflect the values of the Republic with Galatasaray High School and Galatasaray University, and in sports, with our club, and in culture, with our values. What we have achieved is not just the success of a management but of the entire community."
