Akbayram stated, "These are the thoughts of my friends and loved ones who will bid me farewell on my last journey. They can send me off with applause, with flowers, or they can choose to do nothing at all."

Akbayram, who had been receiving treatment for about two months at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital of Health Sciences University due to suspected internal bleeding from a fall, passed away despite medical interventions.

HE FOUGHT POLIO

Edip Akbayram, who won the hearts of his fans with songs like "Güzel Günler Göreceğiz," "Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm," and "Aldırma Gönül," was born on December 29, 1950, in Gaziantep. Akbayram, who contracted polio at the age of nine months and spent his childhood battling the disease, began his relationship with music by forming an orchestra at a young age.

HE FORMED AN ORCHESTRA IN HIGH SCHOOL

Working as an amateur in a wedding hall near his home, Akbayram solidified his ties to music during high school by composing pieces based on the poems of Karacaoğlan and Pir Sultan with the orchestra he formed with his friends. He brought to life the song "Kendim ettim kendim buldum," which was included in his first record, during his high school years, and his group's name was 'Siyah Örümcekler' (Black Spiders).

Starting his music career in Gaziantep and continuing there for a while, Akbayram's second stop and the city where he performed was Adana.

HE PASSED THE DENTISTRY EXAM

After graduating from high school in 1968, Akbayram went to Istanbul to take exams for his dream of becoming a doctor and was accepted into the dentistry department. Faced with the choice between dentistry and music, Akbayram chose music and participated in the Golden Microphone Competition in 1971. The master artist won first place with his first composition, "Kükredi Çimenler," inspired by the poetry of Aşık Veysel.

Akbayram, who founded the Dostlar Orchestra in 1974, became one of the leading figures in Anatolian pop music.

With unforgettable works like "Kara Kuzu," "Deniz Üstü Köpürür," and "Garip," and breaking sales records with pieces like "Aldırma Gönül" and "Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz," Akbayram gained a large fan base.

The artist, who has nearly 250 awards, including a Golden Record, has left a significant mark in the music industry.

HE WAS ADMITTED FOR TREATMENT ON JANUARY 9

In a statement on social media, Istanbul Provincial Health Director Assoc. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner reported that Edip Akbayram, one of the country's valuable artists, passed away despite all medical interventions at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for about two months.

Güner stated, "Our health teams provided him with the highest level of care and treatment, but unfortunately, he could not be saved despite all efforts. I wish God's mercy upon the deceased and condolences to his family, fans, and the art community."

Edip Akbayram, who was admitted for treatment on January 9 due to suspected internal bleeding from a fall, underwent surgery on January 10.

HE WILL BE BURIED ON MARCH 4

Edip Akbayram, the master of Turkish music who passed away at the age of 75 in the hospital where he was receiving treatment, will be buried after the funeral ceremony to be held on Tuesday, March 4.

After the memorial ceremony to be held at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall at 11:00 AM, the funeral prayer will be held at Teşvikiye Mosque following the noon prayer. The artist will then be laid to rest at Karacaahmet Cemetery in Üsküdar.
