In a armed attack in Nigeria's Zamfara state, 50 people lost their lives.
50 PEOPLE KILLED IN ARMED ATTACK
Zamfara state legislator Hamisu Faru stated in a statement to AA correspondent that armed gang members on motorcycles launched an attack on a village belonging to Tungan Dutse town. Faru noted that 50 people lost their lives in the attack, and many others, including women and children, were kidnapped.
HOUSES SET ON FIRE
Faru pointed out that many houses were also set on fire during the attack, and said that the local people could not sleep out of fear.
Nigeria has long been facing attacks from armed gangs as well as the terrorist organization ISIS's West Africa branch ISWAP and Boko Haram in various regions of the country. Although the penalty for kidnapping in the country is death, kidnapping for ransom incidents are frequently encountered.
Armed individuals generally target villages, schools, and passengers in the northern part of the country, demanding ransom.
